Belfast Exhibition A Success

The exhibition was launched in PLACE, the Architecture and Built Environment Centre for Northern Ireland, 40, Fountain St. Belfast on 1st April. It was beyond all my expectations. Invited guests started to arrive from 5pm and it was wonderful to meet some very old friends and family.

About 7pm the Late Night Art tour bus arrived, which is sponsored by Belfast City Council, with a bus load of people to see my exhibition.

I was pleased to meet everyone and to talk about my images and what the shed journey means to me.

Thanks to Amberlea and Conor from the PLACE for making it such a great occasion.

Belfast Exhibition Launches April 1st

Hi Folks,

My exhibition moves to Belfast this coming week, opening on Thursday April 1st at PLACE – the Architecture and Built Environment Centre for Northern Ireland.

PLACE will be open late on Thursday evening and I’ll be giving a talk about the Shed project. I’m looking forward to bringing the exhibition to my home town and catching up with some old friends!

Edinburgh to Belfast

The exhibition was showing in the RNIB Headquarters at Hillside Crescent, Edinburgh in their café gallery during December and January. By all accounts there was a steady flow of visitors throughout, thank-you to all who came my work.

There was also excellent coverage from BBC Scotland TV and radio as well as the double page spread in the national Scottish newspaper The Scotsman. The RNIB magazine Vision also covered it, as well as the RNIB radio station Insight.

Many thanks to all the wonderful RNIB staff especially Mr. Tully who saved the day for us when we were hanging the exhibition.

The Belfast Exhibition launches on Thursday April 1st at PLACE on Fountain Street. More details to follow!

Belfast Exhibition in April!

I’m pleased to confirm that my exhibition will be traveling to my birthplace, Belfast!

It will launch on Thursday April 1st, at PLACE, The Architecture and Built Environment Centre for Northern Ireland and will run for the month.

Over the past two years I have been having a wonderful time photographing my old shed. But in all that time there’s been one thing missing – SNOW! Until now. I hope you enjoy these pictures -there will be more! I am now using a Canon 450D SLR, but I still enjoy using my compact cameras as well.

Remember the exhibition in Edinburgh continues until 27th January 2010. We hope to take it to Belfast in April.

Shed Story Interview in The Scotsman

Following the launch of my exhibition at the RNIB Gallery in Edinburgh, I gave an interview to Claire Smith of The Scotsman.

“The main thing is that people have got to do it for themselves. It’s not about doing it to show off to anybody, just do it for yourself. If that fateful day hadn’t happened, I’d still be sitting in that chair getting fat. This has lifted me out of the depths of despair. And what I’ve done, there are so many other people out there who could benefit from it. They don’t have to take fantastic photographs, they just have to be able to say: ‘I did that.’”

Shed Exhibition at RNIB Edinburgh

I am now getting ready to take the Shed exhibition to the RNIB Gallery 12 / 14, Hillside Crescent in Edinburgh, where it will run from early December until mid-January, opening with a private viewing on the 3rd December.
